Sam Burnette

My name is Sam Burnette.

Although I believe that God brought me to himself several years ago when I realized my need for a Savior, the past couple years in particular he has convicted me of my sins and helped me to want to grow closer with him. I know that being a Christian doesn’t mean that you don’t sin, but I have realized that repentance marks the life of a Christian. As Christians, we are to loathe our sins and seek to walk by faith in the ways God has laid out for us in his Word.

I believe that God created the world and that he is holy. Because all people have sinned, we need a savior. I believe that Jesus was born of a virgin; that he is fully God and fully man; that he lived a perfect life; that he died and was buried; and that on the third day he rose victorious over sin and death. I believe Jesus is the Savior I need.

Recently the Lord has used people in my life to help strengthen my faith and to help me understand the importance of baptism and point me towards it. He has used my parents, teachers (at school and church), and even the testimonies of multiple friends. After watching people get baptized, I knew that baptism was a good thing, and even something that a Christian should do, but I thought about it as something to do only when I got older or when I became the perfect Christian. The Lord has helped me to realize that baptism is not simply something you do when you reach a certain age or when your faith becomes perfect. It’s what you do to show that you are trusting in Christ as your Savior and Lord. You are showing the nations that you belong to a kingdom that is not of this world, and you are waiting for the day when Jesus will return and call you home.
